Train the Trainer: Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults

Course Aim:

This course is designed to not only provide trainers with a deep understanding of safeguarding issues but also to equip them with the skills necessary to effectively share this knowledge within their organisations.

Course Outline:

  • Overview of safeguarding: definitions, importance, the legal framework and the link between vulnerability and abuse.
     

  • Types of abuse: recognising the types, the signs and symptoms and the impact it has on vulnerable adults.
     

  • Legislation and rights: relevant legislation, respecting rights, national guidelines.
     

  • Prevention strategies: roles, responsibilities, policies and procedures- everyone's role
     

  • Responding to concerns or disclosures: how to manage these, documentation, reporting, confidentiality and information sharing
     

  • Risk management: conducting risk assessments for safeguarding and developing care plans to mitigate risks
